The Telecommunications Engineer will assist with design, develop, implement and analyze technical systems and interfaces relating to
telephony technologies.
Responsibilities include: The Telecommunications Engineer will participate in design reviews, system reviews, implementations, troubleshooting and a variety of related tasks. In addition to Cisco Call Manager, Telephony, Gateway, and VoIP experience, the Telecom Engineer will have strong expertise in Vendor Management and Client side user interface. Responsibilities include monitoring, troubleshooting and repairing entire communication systems performance to ensure dependable and uninterrupted operation of telephone communications, including POTS, VoIP and CISCO Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Video solution; coordinates and works as liaison with other departments to ensure their requirements are met; translates customer needs into business solutions; develops customer satisfaction surveys. Define, Evaluate, Test, and recommend new telephony and Call Center technologies, implementation plans to upgrade communications systems and emergency plans to deal with catastrophic events; oversees correction of alarm conditions; performs preventative maintenance; identifies and replaces/repairs malfunctioning and inoperative equipment, such as circuit cards, processing units, backup components and other equipment; determines inventory maintenance and assists in monitoring budget requirements for equipment; sets up users with telephone extensions, calling features, voice mail and access codes; trains new users; maintains the telephone directory; develops and maintains strong relationships with service providers; oversees and assists in the installation, testing and evaluation of hardware and software to determine efficiency, reliability and compatibility with existing capacity; performs other duties as assigned.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field; or three to five years' experience and/or training in a related technical area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience in Cisco Unified Communications Manager Publisher & Subscriber -version 7 and above, Cisco 2851 Voice Gateways, Cisco Contact Center Express and Cisco Unity (clustered)/ Cisco Unity Connection (Unified Messaging server) -version 7 and above. The candidate should be knowledgeable about Cisco Single Wire, IPCelerate 911 Notification server, Code Blue student emergency notification system and RightFax FoIP (Fax over IP) Server. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required as well as the ability to work with a diverse population. Periodic on-call availability and flexible work hours based upon project deliverables. Must be able to lift and transport moderately heavy objects.
