This is why it?s important that you don?t leave items cluttering up corridors, which could prevent emergency procedures from running smoothly or cause someone to trip over. You should also make your employer aware of any changes to the work environment or your personal circumstances that could throw up new hazards (becoming pregnant or taking certain medication for example).

However, it?s just as important that employees are aware of their responsibilities, for their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of other colleagues and members of the public.
